Thermo-responsive polymer encapsulated gold nanorods for single continuous wave laser-induced photodynamic/photothermal tumour therapy

Abstract Owing to strong and tunable surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect good biocompatibility, gold nanoparticles have been suggested be a versatile platform for broad range of biomedical applications. In this study, new nanoplatform thermo-responsive polymer encapsulated nanorods incorporating indocyanine green (ICG) was designed couple the photothermal properties (AuNRs) photodynamic ICG enhance photodynamic/photothermal combination therapy (PDT/PTT). addition significantly increased payload enhancing photostability ICG, shell in also has characteristics that can control release drugs at tumour sites upon laser irradiation. On basis these improvements, strongly drug aggregation site improved photothermal/photodynamic therapeutic efficacy. These results suggest would great potential system imaging antitumour therapy.
